The third event, „The Green Agenda and Youth Involvement – Initiatives for sustainable Future“, was held at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad within the campaign Green Grow Awareness Days and the project „Engaging Youth in a Digital Green Future 2.0“, Erasmus +, KA3.


The aim of the event was to raise awareness among young people about the Green Agenda by presenting Agenda 2030 and European Green Deal and to encourage their active involvement in building a sustainable future. The presentation from agriculture’s point of view was led by Nataša Heror, president of NGO MEDIA PONT from Novi Sad.


After the first presentation, the floor was taken by Andjela Vila from UNDP. Her part of the event was to present „Green Agenda“ and also spoke about the projects funded by UNDP, and gave some examples about how and why they were funded, and also why they were important.


The third presentation was held by Milica Živković from Institute for Regional Development and she spoke about the activities that Nature Reserve „Kraljevac“ organizes each year and invited participants to visit the reserve and also become more actively engaged in its initiatives.


Two short films were also screened, focusing on the protection of the turtles and European ground squirrel – suslik, which are protected species in the reserve, and also led by the Association of Sport Fishermen „Deliblat Lake“ and highlighted the important role of volunteers in these conservation activities.


At the end, Emilija Milenković, co-founder of the organization Our World Our Rules, emphasized that change begins with personal initiative, and also encouraged students to take an active role in shaping a better community. Emilija also shared how their group founded the organization at an early age at high school, driven by the desire to improve their surroundings and raise environmental awareness.


Based on the post-lecture survey analysis, 100% of participants stated that the European Green Deal is an important process. Prior to the lecture, 6.7% of participants had not heard of it, indicating that the event successfully increased their awareness and understanding of the topic. A survey shows that 92.3% of participants believe that individual habits have an impact on climate change. Regarding their willingness to change, 46.2% are partially ready to adjust their habits to contribute to improvement, while 53.8% are fully ready to make such changes.

The project “Engaging Youth in the Digital Green Future 2.0” is implemented within the Erasmus+ program, KA3 and is co-financed by the European Commission.


This event received the support of the Swiss Government through the project “Together for an active civil society – AKT”, implemented by Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation and Civic Initiatives (Građanske inicijative).
