As part of the EY-DGF 2.0 (Greenovate) project, Inercia Digital successfully organised three Local Events in Spain, reinforcing the project’s mission to engage young people and key stakeholders in discussions around sustainability, European green policies, and youth participation. These events, held in Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, and Huelva, brought together a total of 71 participants, reflecting the growing interest in building a digital and green future driven by active citizenship.

The first Local Event took place on 29 October 2025 in Jerez de la Frontera, hosted at the facilities of Fundación Don Bosco. This event gathered mainly young migrants, highly motivated to learn about the European Green Deal, sustainability policies, and how they can improve their green and civic competences. The collaborative atmosphere encouraged open dialogue, exchange of experiences, and reflection on the role of young people as agents of change in their local communities.

A key added value of the Jerez event was the strong support provided by Fundación Don Bosco, whose long-standing experience working with vulnerable youth greatly enriched the discussions. Additionally, the participation of Margarita Martín Ortiz, influencer and representative of Ateneo Siglo XXI, brought an inspiring perspective on civic engagement, critical thinking, and the importance of amplifying young voices in societal debates.

The second Local Event was held on 30 October 2025 in Cádiz, at the premises of Asociación Cardijn. Similarly to Jerez, this session attracted mostly migrant participants, eager to understand how European environmental policies connect with their daily lives and future opportunities. The event focused on raising awareness about sustainable development, youth participation, and the relevance of the 2030 Agenda and the European Green Deal.

The collaboration with Asociación Cardijn was fundamental to extending the reach and impact of Greenovate in Cádiz. Their commitment to social justice and community-based education helped create a safe and participatory space where attendees felt encouraged to share their ideas, concerns, and aspirations regarding sustainability and inclusion.

The third Local Event took place on 10 December 2025 in Huelva, hosted at Inercia Digital’s own facilities. Unlike the previous two, this event was attended mainly by educators and professionals, interested in understanding how Greenovate is being implemented and how its tools and methodology can be transferred to educational and youth work contexts.

During the Huelva event, participants were introduced in detail to the Participation Days Events methodology, one of the core outcomes of the project. In addition, Inercia Digital showcased the project’s milestones, highlighting the positive results achieved so far and outlining the next steps, including upcoming international activities and youth mobilities.

Across all three Local Events, a common conclusion emerged: young people are willing and able to drive change when they are given the right tools, spaces, and opportunities. Whether migrants seeking to strengthen their sustainable competences or educators looking for innovative methodologies, Greenovate proved to be a powerful platform for dialogue, empowerment, and action.

Overall, the Spanish Local Events were a clear success, not only in terms of participation numbers but also in the quality of engagement and collaboration achieved. Through these activities, Greenovate continues to build bridges between youth, education, and European green policies, contributing to a more inclusive, informed, and sustainable future for all.
