3 February 2026 – As part of the project Greenovate “Engaging Youth in a Digital Green Future 2.0” (Erasmus+, KA3), the launch of Slovenian Green Growth Awareness Day was held during the national Eco-Quiz competition event for secondary and high schools. At the School Centre Slovenj Gradec, the event brought together 170 high schools students from all over Slovenia, offering a unique opportunity to prove their knowledge, learn more about sustainability and their role in greening our lives.
Organised by Assocation DOVES – FEE Slovenia within Eco-Schools and Young Reporters for the Environment programmes, the event addressed several topics, one of them also the European Green Deal, the broader EU vision for climate neutrality and sustainable development.

Key message: Youth are not just future decision-makers – they are today’sdrivers of change. Their voice, creativity, and action matter now more than ever.
The focus of the Greenovate session, attended by 40 participants, was to:
- Raise awareness about the European Green Deal and its objectives;
- Highlight the role of young people in achieving SDGs;
- Encourage youth participation in sustainability initiatives, both locally and across Europe;
- Present the Greenovate 2.0 project and invitatiton to get engaged through examples of Participation days in Slovenia (topic: circular economy), Serbia (topic: sustainable agriculture) and Greece (sustainable tourism).
Students were encouraged to reflect on their everyday habits and how personal choices contribute to global environmental challenges – and solutions. The Greenovate platform was also introduced as a space for sharing actions and ideas among young people from across Europe.
The event took place as part of Eco-Schools’ efforts to combine education and awareness with real-life engagement. Students also had the chance to connect the content of the Eco-Quiz with broader environmental and policy issues, making their learning experience more impactful.
