Drama, Greece | 11–13 October 2025

From 11 to 13 October 2025, in the city of Drama organization “Innovating Activities in Education, Tourism, Health and Interculturality” (KDETYD) hosted the Participation Days in Greece — part of the European project “Engaging Youth in a Digital Green Future 2.0”, co-funded by the European Union. The three-day event brought together young people, educators, local authorities, and sustainability experts to explore how the European Green Deal and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development can guide the transition toward a
greener and more resilient future.

Focusing on Sustainable Tourism and the Green Deal, the Participation Days empowered young participants to gain practical knowledge, exchange ideas, and co-create innovative solutions for sustainable growth. Through interactive workshops, field visits, and expert discussions, participants deepened their understanding of sustainable tourism and the role of youth in driving climate action.

Throughout the program, attendees took part in sessions on alternative tourism, sustainable hospitality, and urban resilience. Highlights included an educational robotics workshop on recycling, and a field trip to Agia Varvara Park, a landmark of Drama, that has been listed among the 60 most beautiful parks in Europe as part of the Culture 2000 program. These activities connected environmental education with cultural heritage, demonstrating how sustainability and local development go hand in hand.

The event formed part of a broader transnational collaboration that includes organizations from Serbia ( Media Pont), Lithuania ( VSI Darnoje), Spain ( Inercia Digital) and Slovenia ( Doves), each focusing on different Green Deal themes such as Sustainable Agriculture, Renewable Energy, and the Circular Economy. Together, these partners are committed to empowering youth as agents of change for Europe’s green transition.

The Greek Participation Days concluded with a guided exploration of the Aggitis River Cave, one of Greece’s most important natural monuments, where participants examined the site through the lens of sustainable tourism. The closing ceremony and the awarding of Youthpass certificates took place in this unique natural setting, perfectly reflecting the event’s spirit of sustainability, learning, and connection with nature.

As part of the Engaging Youth in a Digital Green Future 2.0 project, the event reaffirmed the shared vision of European youth to act, innovate, and collaborate for a cleaner, fairer, and more sustainable planet and also inspired young people to continue their involvement in sustainability initiatives at local, national, and European levels.
