What initially inspired you to attend the participation days events?

I see myself as a person who is conscious in the aspect of environmental awareness, and
because of that, I want to do what is in my hand to change the world into a cleaner place, so every opportunity to learn about this is much appreciated.

Moreover, the travelling
opportunity that is given will help me to gather more information about how different cultures address environmental practices, and contrast them with my own experience.

Can you highlight a local environmental initiative that made a lasting impression on you?

Since I am not aware of any local environmental initiative that is made in my town, I will tell
you what I like to do.

When I go for walks, usually once every two days, I bring a bag with me to pick litter on the
way home. I do not try to leave the places clean but pick up some trash once every time I go
for a walk. I believe that constant little actions can snowball into a big change in the future.

Who knows, maybe someone reads this and gets inspired by this idea. Please try this at
home!

What are the biggest challenges you face in Spain environmentally-wise under your point of
view?

From my point of view, one of the biggest environmental challenges in Spain is the
management of water resources. We are a country with a high risk of drought, and climate
change is only intensifying this problem.

How would you assess the balance between good and bad environmental practices in
Spain?

I would say the balance between good and bad environmental practices in Spain is a mix.
We have a lot of good, progressive policies at the national and European level, especially
regarding renewable energy. Spain is a leader in solar and wind power, which is a great
positive. However, on the flip side, we still have some bad practices, especially at the
individual and local level. For instance, the general public’s awareness of water conservation
is not as high as it should be, and there’s a lot of room for improvement in daily habits, such
as waste separation and conscious consumption.

How engaged are young people in Spain with environmental issues?

Personally, I think young people should be more conscious of environmental issues since we
are the ones that will live with the state of our planet more than anyone. I have both seen
highly environmentally conscious people which I think is great, but I also have seen a lot of
ignorance with respect to consumption and littering.
